Pony Class

Open to children from ages 3 to 12.  Some 10 year old and older students may qualify for adult classes.  

ATTENTION!!!  THIS IS NOT A DROP OFF CLASS. It is mandatory that a responsible adult remain with the child the entire time. The adult will learn all of the skills that the Kids will be taught and they will perform as a team while playing with the horses and ponies.  

All students under the age of 18 will be required to wear a helmet. Bring your own helmet.

Children will learn many skills during this 6 session class including:

• How to groom body, mane and tail, saddle, bridle, pick hooves and pick up road apples
• Identify expressions of the pony - happy, interested, worried, bored
• Lead the pony from the ground to walk and trot beside
• Circle and back up the pony on the ground
• Send pony over jumps, onto pedestal and other obstacles
• Learn patterns, i.e. barrel racing, pole bending, circles
• Balance properly with riding pony
• Proper and polite mounting
• Leg and rein cues to ask the pony to go
